Students of the AIS Montessori section participated in the kitchen corner activity of Dried Fruits Arrangement. Students brought small packets of dried fruits and with the help of teachers, arranged them beautifully in trays and baskets. It was fascinating as well as informative for them to discover the different kinds of nuts such as walnuts, peanuts, cashew nuts, pistachio, pine nuts, almonds, raisins, dried apricot, dates and figs. It was a surprise for most of the students when they saw dried pineapple, kiwi fruit, dried melon and dried water melon. Teachers told the students that Allah subhana-wa-tallah has kept a special ability in these fruits that these can be dried and later preserved for long periods of time. Dried fruits are pure form of energy and contain nutrients specially required in winters to keep us warm and healthy. Later, students collected the shells of nuts for the upcoming art activities. We tried to integrate this activity with our weekly theme of ‘dignity of labour’, hence our students distributed small baskets of dried fruits amongst the school maids, cleaners, gate keepers as a gesture of respect and acknowledgement of their dedication, hard work and dutifulness..
This activity was conducted at all Montessori levels on 15th and 20th January 2015 at F-8 and F-10 campus respectively.
