The Primary Section is Alhamdulillah a reflection of the aims of the School. Students are being trained in a fine and scholarly environment by passionate teachers in a fostering manner. The approach to learning is evolving day by day, whereby modern and innovative techniques are being adopted to educate the students. These techniques optimize confidence, competence and proficiency. Regular and consistent professional trainings by accredited trainers and consultants as well as spiritual trainings are a key feature of the Primary Section.
The Primary Section currently comprises from grades 1 to 5. Boys and girls are segregated from grade 4 onwards.

The AIS assembly is a place for learning, encouragement and bonding. Students learn surahs, participate in challenging quizzes and benefit from theme-based talks on moral values in the assembly sessions. They also enjoy warm up exercises and Islamic Nashîds that make them fresh and ready for the day ahead.
All academic subjects are taught at the level of excellence Alhamdulillah with an integration of Islamic education.
Subject details are as follows:
|Quran – Recitation and Memorization*||Students learn the art of Recitation of the Holy Quran, memorize different surahs, learn ahadith and duas.|
|Arabic*||Arabic is taught in a natural and effective manner. Being the language of the Qur’an, it holds great importance within the academic framework of our School.|
|English*||Enabling students to communicate universally, the English language effectively flows throughout the School. A strong foundation is built during English lessons consisting of writing, language activities, listening and speaking.|
|Urdu||Urdu is valued highly at the school being the native language. We are working on the advancement of the language as we comparatively do for other language lessons.|
|Math*||Students are taught Math concepts with manipulative and concrete experiences which help them grasp high level concepts. They are also drilled to challenge ‘mental arithmetic’.|
|Islamic Studies*||Islamic Studies is taught in an engaging manner, which helps in increasing their knowledge, enriching their Faith and translating into action.|
|Science||An understanding and application of science concepts are inventively ensured through resources such as documentaries, diagrams and science projects. Children are free to make discoveries, devise formulas and experiment as they please. Science is taught in a way that helps students recognize the greatness of Allah.|
|Social Studies||Through Social Studies, students develop an understanding of the world by learning about other people and their values, economy, the environment, social science politics and how to become responsible citizens as well as active participants of the world.|
|Expressive Arts||Expressive Arts is a combined subject involving dramatic skills for performing on stage, delivering speeches amongst small groups or before an assembly, using drawing, writing, poetry and painting for the purposes of growth.Art and craft is a key to opening up a child’s mind, broadening his/her horizons in being creative and helps refine skills. Students use this time to analyze, criticize and produce original pieces of Art.|
|Physical Education||Fitness is ensured by providing opportunities to students for training and participation in sports activities such as Martial Arts, Badminton, Table Tennis, Racing etc.|
Assessment and Grading
Procedures have been developed to formalize the complete process of assessment and grading. This may vary slightly according to the grade of the child. In general, the assessment practices promote independent learning by identifying areas of improvement along with strengths of each student in a manner that is understandable to the students, hence enabling them to reflect upon their progress and set future targets. AIS has formulated curriculum documents that entail what the students should know, do, understand and experience (facts, concepts, subject skills, learning skills and values), what is to be assessed and how it is to be assessed. The students’ progress is closely monitored by class teachers, subject teachers and the Section Head through close observation as well as through the assessment of class work, tests, oral assessments, class participation and projects year round. A combination of formative and summative class assessment is used systematically to monitor student progress and guide instruction. Regular behavior and academic reports are compiled which enable the teacher to identify exactly the areas of each student that require special attention and accordingly work on them. Teachers discuss students’ progress with regards to student mastery and application of skills and concepts during the 1st and 2nd term parent-teacher conferences.
- Mid-Year exams take place at the end of the 1st term, in January and End-of-Year Exams take place at the end of the 2nd term, in June, each year. Each exam is conducted for the syllabus covered in that particular term only
- Average marks in the subject will be assigned to the child who fails to appear in any paper of Mid-Year or End-of-Year exam for a legitimate reason. He/she will also not be entitled for the award certificate for that particular subject
- Students in the Primary Section are shown their marked exam papers, so that they can be encouraged for the good work and also that they may be able to exactly identify their mistakes done while solving the paper.
Grading is done on the basis of continuous assessment, class tests, Mid-Year and End-of-Year exams.
At the end of each academic year, the consolidated result in the form of the Report card will take the following form:

Additionally, students are awarded certificates and prizes for curricular and co-curricular activities.

- Core subjects include: Islamic Studies and Qur’an – Recitation and Memorization, English, Arabic and Math
