Sports Day at AIS: A Lively Display of Vigor, Energy and Team Spirit

14th November 2012 was an exciting day, bringing together a multitude of sport activities performed by both the Montessori and Junior section students of AIS. The  2nd Annual Sports Day function of AIS injected life and vigor into the normally quiet ground adjacent to the school. The three-hour event had Sohail ur Rehman, Additional DG NDC Nescom, officiating as the chief guest. The event began with the beautiful recitation of Surah al-Anfal verses 60-63 by Bilal Mahmood from V-B, translated by Maiza Tariq from IV-G. The ayahs depict the strength of Muslims and the need to be prepared for any battle along with complete trust in Allah, and their recitation infused the event with the perfect spirit to start the show.

Colorful bunches of balloons were then released into the air to mark the official opening of the event. As takbirat were chanted by enthusiastic parents, over 350 students from Montessori to Grade V participated in the “march-past” with colorful pompoms on their hands and heart-warming smiles.

Montessori and Junior section participated in diverse races such as bunny races, turtle races, ball transfer races, and more. Junior section students gave performances in physical training and displayed very impressive Taekwondo presentations including tile breaking with hand. The chief guest awarded the winners with trophies and certificates. The event gave the students confidence to display their athletic ability, energy and team spirit.
