Young Chefs Bake Chocolate Brownies (MS H-11 Campus)

Kids love to feel grown-up and work like their elders. Montessori students at AIS were given a chance to play as chefs in their Kitchen Corner activity this November. Eagerly waiting for getting their hands on the ingredients, the little bakers listened attentively to their teachers as they explained the process of making ‘Brownies’. Diving in the procedure, children poured milk and oil in a bowl along with sugar and eggs. After blending the milk batter with an electric blender, they added all the dry ingredients including flour, baking powder and cocoa powder. Students also helped in greasing the microwave dish before pouring the mixture in it. After 6 to 7 minutes of baking, the mouth-watering brownies were ready to be served by the little bakers. They excitedly shared their first baked delicacy with the staff and also munched the treat themselves. This work-at-kitchen experience inspired children’s curiosity and helped them develop a number of skills including better hand-eye coordination, muscle control, motor skills, counting skills, sorting skills and the ability to follow guidelines. It also made them ponder over the blessings of Allah (SWT) in form of yummy and delicious food and encouraged them to thank Him with every bite.
